About

We believe that all Veterans Organizations can grow and prosper through effective use of the Internet. It is our mission to get as many AMVETS, American Legions, and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts as possible connected and online in order that they realize their full potential. When these organizations realize their full potential, individual Veterans stand a greater chance to reach their full potential also.

VWD.com is the Web Hosting, Web Design, and Email Services division of what was once was Riverside Internet Services split off as a separate company. Riverside began operations in 1996 as an Internet Service Provider.

In September of 2015 the decision was made to start a separate company that directly markets to Veterans organizations, calling it Veterans Web Design (VWD). VWD uses only veterans for web page development and web page maintenance. With nearly 20 years experience, VWD is fully equipped to handle your project.

Hello, this is Dan Boutell the founder. He owned and operated Riverside Internet Services, Inc. from its inception in 1996 until it discontinued operations in February, 2018.

In 2011 he became active in the local Veterans of Foreign Wars where he was elected Junior Vice Commander for the year 2012-2013. Several circumstances led to his election as Post Commander for the year 2013-2014.

About the same time that he was getting involved at the post, their first web page had been online for a few months. It was designed by someone who knew someone who knew something about HTML, it was obvious that the person that they were dealing with was unreliable and unresponsive to their needs.

Dan convinced membership that he could do a better job. This was not that hard to do since the post was paying $30 a month for page maintenance to a non-veteran who they couldn’t get hold of. Dan’s offer was hard to pass up since he was willing to build the site and maintain it at no charge to the post.

Over the years many customers have asked for pages that they can maintain themselves. Somehow it never seems to work out that they do.

Dan had been building pages for years using a text editor, but started using web design software for this page, then switched to WordPress. For that reason, Dan’s thoughts turned to, “if you think that you really want to keep your page updated yourself, he could build it so that it was possible.”

Dan passed away in August of 2025.  This left VWD without an operator.  After much thought and consideration, a father and son team, also life members of the VFW post Dan references above, Charlie and Alex took over Dan’s business.  Charlie and Alex each have many years of web design and computer knowledge.  It is with much honor that we strive to continue the Dan Boutell/VWD legacy.

The important thing is that you do get online. Give us a call so that we can get started.
